ROOFING  SERVICES
PENRITH

provide  the best quality  services at very competitive prices in Penrith which sits at the northern gateway to the Lake District, and much of its character survives in the buildings themselves. The town is built largely of sandstone and its older streets are roofed almost entirely in slate. Working here means understanding how those materials were originally laid  and being able to match them when something fails

A sandstone market town
Penrith's town centre is built around Market Square, with its Victorian clock tower, and the streets running off it are lined with stone-built houses and shops of varying ages. The town retains a large number of listed buildings — houses, shops, churches and boundary structures. Stone-built properties behave differently to brick: the walls are less forgiving of trapped moisture, which makes flashing details, gutter falls and ventilation more important, not less. A roof that sheds water correctly protects the stonework below it. Town centre and rural roofs Penrith's work splits roughly in two. In the town, we are most often called to slate repairs, slipped slates, failed flashings around chimneys and dormers, and gutters that have lost their fall. Outside the town, towards the Eden Valley and the fell edges, the properties are larger and more exposed: farmhouses, barns and converted outbuildings with long roof runs and few sheltered aspects. Those roofs take the full weather and typically need more frequent attention.
